It seems that it has been an exciting past couple of days in football. I'll quickly update the tally, I had posted about the MAACO Bowl I was still at 2-2. Now after both that game and the Poinsettia bowl have been played I am sitting at 3-3. My prediction on the MAACO Bowl was completely torn apart by Boise State as they beat Arizona State. Which if you remember correctly I said was perfectly fine by me as I don't like ASU. TCU took down Louisiana Tech in a game that was nearly identical to the one in my simulated prediction. Anyways on to the next bowl game. This is the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl which pits a 21st ranked Southern Mississippi Gold Eagles team from the C-USA with an 11 and 2 record against a Nevada Wolf Pack from the WAC with a 7-5 record. I'm sure you know what time it is, scoreboard!
Due to time constraints and this game being tomorrow I only set the quarter length to 5 minutes. Southern Miss got on the board first with a field goal and then Nevada returned the favor with a TD. Then late in the second Southern Miss took the lead back with a rather impressive drive for 97 yards after being pinned deep in their own territory. Afterwards it was pretty much a defensive battle with USM getting another score late in the third to secure the game. So there you have it, Southern Miss should be able to win this bowl game. Let's hope they can as my record is at stake...and yes I am taking some pride in these selections. Although...technically my method isn't exactly scientific as I am using two year old data...oh well it still works...sort of.
With that said, I will leave you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays until Monday. Why Monday? That's when the next bowl game is and I hope to have it posted by then as well.
